Easy Spells You Can Do With a Simple Magic Toolkit

on

Some of the most powerful magic comes from working with simple, everyday items and ingredients. The following easy spells use common ingredients that you probably already have at home or can easily obtain. This approach to spellwork makes magic more accessible and reminds us that the true power comes from our intention and energy—not from having the fanciest tools or most exotic ingredients.

Before we start with these easy spells, let’s talk about the supplies you’ll need. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything on this list! Just use what you have – the most important ingredient in any witchcraft spell is you and your intention.

Your Magical Toolkit

  1. Notebooks or folders (physical or digital) for recording your magical work
  2. Pen and paper for writing intentions
  3. White candles, LED candles, or battery powered fairy lights)
  4. Salt (table salt, sea salt, rock salt or pink Himalayan—all work well)
  5. Earth (garden soil, soil from the park or shop-bought compost)
  6. A stone for energy amplification (clear quartz is traditional, but any crystal or stone that you associate with positive energy works)
  7. A stone or crystal to absorb negative energy (black stones like obsidian or tourmaline are traditional, but any stone that feels protective will do)
  8. Containers (empty jars, envelopes, drawstring bags and boxes)
  9. Dried rosemary
  10. Ground cinnamon
  11. Dried basil
  12. Dried sage
  13. Bay leaves
  14. Dried rose petals
  15. A heatproof plate, pot or cauldron for candle and fire work (optional)
  16. A natural room spray, incense, or a bell/singing bowl for cleansing
  17. Small bowls for holding ingredients
  18. A shelf, box, or bag to store your magical items
  19. A hand or compact mirror

Now that we’ve covered the supplies, let’s explore some easy spells we can do with these simple ingredients.

New Beginning Ritual Bath

This ritual bath helps you wash away old energies and prepare for new beginnings. It’s perfect for starting new projects, beginning a new job, moving to a new home, or whenever you feel you need a fresh start. It’s an elemental spell that uses water, fire, earth (in the form of the crystal or stone) and air in the form of incense, the room spray or just the steam. It also uses salt for purification and protection and rose petals, which symbolise divine love, healing energy and spiritual connection.

What You Need

  • A bathtub
  • Salt
  • Dried rose petals (if you do not have rose petals use any non toxic flower petals or rosemary)
  • Your amplification stone (clear quartz or alternative)
  • A white candle (or LED alternative)
  • A small bowl
  • A natural room spray or incense
  • A bell or singing bowl (optional)

What To Do

Begin by cleaning your bathroom, creating a calm, uncluttered space. Use the incense or room spray to purify the space before starting your ritual.

Fill your bathtub with comfortably warm water. As the water fills the tub, visualise it carrying purifying energy that will cleanse both your body and spirit.

In a small bowl, mix a handful of salt with the dried rose petals. Hold your hands over the mixture and say: “Salt of cleansing, roses of renewal, prepare me for the new beginnings that await.”

Add the salt and rose petal mixture to your bathwater, stirring it clockwise three times with your hand to activate the energy.

Place your amplification stone at the edge of the tub where you can see it. If you’re using a candle, light it and place it safely near the bath.

Before entering the water, stand for a moment and become aware of what you want to release. These might be old habits, negative thought patterns, or anything else that no longer serves you. Speak these aloud if you feel comfortable doing so.

Step into the bath and allow the water to embrace you. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. With each exhale, imagine old energies, worries and blockages leaving your body and dissolving into the water.

Soak in the bath for at least 15 minutes. During this time, visualise yourself filled with fresh, vibrant energy. See yourself succeeding in your new beginnings, whatever they may be.

When you’re ready to end the ritual, stand up and say: “Cleansed and renewed, I step forward into my new beginning. So it is.”

As the water drains, visualise all the old energies and everything you’re releasing going down the drain, returning to the earth to be transformed.

After your bath, thank the elements for their assistance in your ritual.

If you don’t have a bath you can have a cleansing shower or even a wash instead. You can add the salt and rose petal mix to a basin of water for a ritual wash or mix them into a tablespoon of shower gel and use this to cleanse yourself in the shower.

Anxiety Relief Sachet

This portable charm helps ease feelings of anxiety and promotes a sense of calm wherever you go. Cinnamon carries the energy of abundance, sacred fire and spiritual awakening, igniting passion for growth and transformation while raising consciousness to higher vibrations. Basil embodies purification, protection and spiritual clarity, it connects earth and spirit while also enhancing intuition and inner wisdom.

What You Need

  • A small fabric pouch (such as a reusable tea bag or a gift bag), or an envelope
  • Dried basil
  • Dried lavender (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon
  • A small rose quartz, clear quartz, or any stone that feels calming to you
  • A bay leaf
  • Pen
  • A white candle (optional)

What To Do

On a bay leaf, write a single word that represents calm to you, such as “PEACE,” or “CALM”. Hold the bay leaf between your palms for a moment, infusing it with your intention for tranquility.

Add the ingredients one by one to your sachet or envelope. Begin with your inscribed bay leaf. Add a pinch each of dried basil (for protection and mental clarity) and cinnamon (for warmth and comfort). If you have dried lavender, add a pinch of that too for extra calming energy.

Add your chosen stone to the bag or envelope. Hold your hands over the sachet and say: “Anxiety fades, tension melts, peaceful calm is all that’s felt. With each breath, I find release, wrapped in comfort, centred in peace.”

Close the bag or envelope.

Hold the completed sachet between your palms and breathe slowly and deeply, imagining calming blue-green light filling the sachet with peaceful energy.

Carry this sachet in your pocket, bag, or place it under your pillow when you sleep. Whenever you are feeling anxious, hold it in your hand, focus on your breathing and remember the calm intention you’ve embedded within it.

Memory and Focus Enhancement Spell

This easy spell helps boost memory retention and mental focus—perfect for students preparing for exams, professionals with important presentations, or anyone needing a mental clarity boost. Rosemary represents remembrance, mental clarity and spiritual protection, helping to preserve sacred knowledge and connect with ancestral wisdom while cleansing negative energy.

What You Need

  • A small jar or container
  • Dried rosemary
  • Dried sage
  • A clear quartz crystal or your amplification stone
  • A bay leaf
  • A pen
  • A white candle
  • A small bowl of water

What To Do

Begin this easy spell by finding a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Place all your ingredients on a clean surface in front of you. Light your white candle (or turn on your LED candle) to signify the illumination of your mind.

Take a moment to ground yourself with three deep breaths. Dip your fingertips into the small bowl of water and touch your forehead lightly, saying: “My mind is clear, receptive, and ready.”

Take your bay leaf and write on it a word or short phrase representing what you want to focus on. This might be “EXAM SUCCESS,” “PRESENTATION,” or simply “CLARITY.”

Hold the bay leaf between your palms for a moment, focusing intently on your goal. Place it at the bottom of your jar.

Add a pinch of rosemary to the jar, saying: “Rosemary for remembrance, sharpen my memory and recall.”

Add a pinch of sage, saying: “Sage for wisdom and clarity, help me discern what’s important.”

Place your clear quartz or amplification stone on top of the herbs, saying: “Crystal of clarity, amplify my focus and concentration.”

Close the jar and hold it between your hands. Close your eyes and visualise bright, golden light filling the jar, infusing the contents with energising power. See this light extending upward into your mind, illuminating your thoughts and making connections clear and bright.

Place this jar on your desk or study area while working or studying. Before each session, hold the jar for a moment and recall your intention. When you’re finished studying or working, thank the jar for its assistance.

This charm will continue working for about a month. After that time, you can refresh it by opening the jar, holding your hands over it, and restating your intentions. If you need to use the crystal for other spells you can remove it and cleanse it. The memory and focus spell will continue to work. You can add the crystal again to recharge the spell.

Career Success Spell Box

This easy spell supports career growth, opportunities and success in your professional life. Bay leaves are commonly used in witchcraft and folk magic for manifestation. Bay leaves are also used in prosperity spells, vision work and rituals for success and achievement. Their association with the laurel tree, which was sacred to Apollo in Greek mythology, connects them to victory, accomplishment and the manifestation of goals.

What You Need

  • A small box with a lid
  • A piece of paper and pen
  • Dried bay leaves
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Dried basil
  • A clear quartz or citrine crystal (or your amplification stone)
  • A small piece of paper money (even a small denomination works)
  • Three small objects representing your career goals (e.g., a business card, a small image, or symbols drawn on paper)
  • Salt
  • A white or green candle

What To Do

Begin this easy spell by cleansing your space and materials. You might ring a bell, spray a natural room spray, or simply take a moment to breathe deeply and set your intention for the work.

On your piece of paper, write a clear, positive statement about your career goals. Write in the present tense, as if it’s already happening: “I am succeeding in my career. New opportunities come to me easily. My work is valued and well-compensated.” Fold the paper three times toward you to draw the energy toward yourself.

Place your folded paper at the bottom of the box. On top of this, place your three objects that represent your career goals. As you place each object, state aloud what it represents for you.

Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon into the box, saying: “Cinnamon, bring warmth to my career path, igniting passion and drawing success.”

Add a bay leaf, saying: “Bay leaf, carry my wishes to manifestation and bring me recognition.”

Add a pinch of dried basil, saying: “Basil, attract prosperity and abundance in my professional life.”

Place your crystal on top of the herbs, saying: “Crystal of power, amplify my intentions and energise my career path.”

Add your piece of paper money, saying: “As symbol of prosperity, multiply and return to me manyfold.”

Sprinkle a small amount of salt around the edges of the box (not on top of your items), saying: “Salt, preserve these energies and protect my career from negative influences.”

Close the box and seal it by dripping a small amount of candle wax on the seam where the lid meets the box (if using a real candle and if this can be done safely). If using an LED candle, simply trace a protective circle around the closed box with your finger.

Hold the completed box between your hands and charge it with your intention. Visualise yourself succeeding in your career goals, feeling satisfied and accomplished. See opportunities coming your way and doors opening for you.

Place this box somewhere relating to your work—in a desk drawer, on a home office shelf, or somewhere else where it won’t be disturbed. Each morning, touch the box briefly and reconnect with your intention before starting your workday.

Self-Love and Confidence Ritual

This simple yet powerful ritual helps build self-love, confidence and a positive self-image—perfect for times when you need a boost of self-esteem or want to develop a healthier relationship with yourself. Mirrors are powerful tools for self-reflection and exploring the subconscious, helping us see hidden aspects of ourselves.

What You Need:

  • A small mirror
  • A white candle
  • Dried rose petals
  • A small bowl of water
  • Salt
  • Your amplification stone
  • A pen and paper
  • A natural room spray or incense (optional)

What To Do:

Begin by creating a calm, private space where you won’t be disturbed. I like to do this spell in the bathroom after a cleansing bath. If using room spray or incense, purify your space before beginning.

Place your mirror on a flat surface in front of you. Around the mirror, arrange your candle, bowl of water, rose petals, salt and crystal.

Light your candle (or turn on your LED candle) and take three deep breaths to centre yourself.

On your piece of paper, write down three to five positive qualities about yourself. These should be genuine attributes you possess—perhaps you’re kind, creative, resilient, intelligent, or compassionate. Take your time with this step; many of us find it easier to list our flaws than our strengths, but focus on the positive here.

Add a pinch of salt to your bowl of water and stir it clockwise three times with your finger, saying: “Water and salt, cleanse my vision and help me see my true worth.”

Sprinkle a few rose petals onto the water’s surface, saying: “Rose of love, open my heart to loving myself fully and completely.”

Place your amplification stone beside the bowl, saying: “Stone of power, strengthen my confidence and amplify my self-worth.”

Now, look into your mirror. Really look at yourself—not with the critical eye we often turn on our reflections, but with kindness and compassion, as you would look at a dear friend.

Pick up your list of positive qualities and read each one aloud while looking at yourself in the mirror. After each quality, say: “This is true of me, and I honour this in myself.”

When you’ve read all your qualities, dip your fingers into the bowl of water and rose petals, and touch the water to your heart, saying: “I am worthy of love, beginning with my own.”

Touch the water to your forehead, saying: “I see myself clearly, with kindness and compassion.”

Finally, touch the water to your throat, saying: “I speak to myself with words of encouragement and love.”

Sit quietly for a few moments, looking at yourself in the mirror with these positive affirmations in mind. Allow yourself to feel the truth of your own worth and lovability.

When you’re ready to close the ritual, thank yourself for this act of self-love. Extinguish your candle if it’s a real one, saying: “This ritual is complete, but my journey of self-love continues.”

Take your list of positive qualities and keep it somewhere private where you can refer to it when you need a reminder of your worth. You might tuck it into a journal, tuck it in your compact mirror, or keep it in your wallet.

Connecting with Your Magick

These easy spells can be adapted to suit your personal style and preferences. The most important ingredients in any spell are your intention and energy. As you work with these simple materials, you’ll likely find that certain herbs, stones, or methods resonate with you more than others. Trust your intuition and let your practice evolve naturally.

Remember that magic works on multiple levels—the ritual actions help focus your mind and intention, while the symbolic meanings of the ingredients connect you to centuries of magical tradition. Whether you believe magic works through psychological focus, energy manipulation, divine intervention, or a combination of these, the act of performing these rituals creates space for transformation in your life.

Start with the easy spell that most addresses your current needs, and don’t feel pressured to get everything “perfect.” Magic is a natural extension of human intention and connection with the world around us—it should feel accessible, empowering and uniquely yours. As you gain confidence, you might find yourself creating your own variations and entirely new spells based on the ingredients in your magic toolkit.

May these easy spells bring positive change, protection, clarity and joy to your life. Happy spellcrafting!

Blessed be
