Dark magic spells: 3 powerful spells for when you need to work some dark magic

on

There may be times in a witch’s life when you need to use magic for self-defence or justice, or you may want to use dark magic to right a wrong or provide negative consequences. In these cases, you may just need one of these 3 dark magic spells.

What is dark magic?

Generally, magic is categorized as white, grey, or black based on its perceived intention or ethical considerations. White magic is typically associated with positive intentions, healing and benevolent actions. Grey magic falls somewhere in between, incorporating both positive and negative elements but with less defined moral boundaries. Black or dark magic is often associated with practices that involve harm or negative intentions towards others.

However, it’s important to note that these categorizations are not universally agreed upon, and what are considered ‘light magic spells’ or ‘dark magic spells’ can differ among practitioners, belief systems and cultural contexts. Ultimately, the ethical implications and consequences of any magical practice depend on the intention, impact and personal values of the individual practitioner.

Karmic consequences

Many witches worry about the karmic consequences of using dark magic spells even when in dire need. The Wiccan karmic law that whatever you send out will come back to you threefold has scared many witches from attempting anything other than the ’love ‘n’ light’ type of magic.

I personally don’t believe in this karmic law, however, I am still cautious about using dark magic. I believe that resorting to dark magic spells too often can have a damaging effect on our own spirituality and psyche so personally, I will only use them as a last resort. I believe that engaging in dark magic spells excessively can also strain or damage relationships with others, both within and outside the magical community. It can lead to a loss of trust and respect, creating long-term negative impacts on relationships.

However, I am in the privileged position of being safe, secure and comfortable by world standards. I am not going to judge someone who is persecuted, abused, or manipulated from using as many dark magic spells as they need to secure the health and well-being of themselves and their loved ones, especially if mundane means and ‘light magic’ have failed them.

Ultimately, each witch has their own opinion on what magic should be used for and no two witches will think exactly alike. Dark magic spells can be an act of courage and love or an act of spite or jealousy – only you can decide. However, before performing dark magic spells you should be aware of the ethical considerations and potential backlash of working in the greyer areas of magic.

It is also worth thinking about how you could use white magic to achieve the results you need before resorting to darker magic. For example, if your neighbours are making your life a misery, instead of doing a sour jar spell, you could create a spell that means they get a fantastic opportunity somewhere very far away!

When contemplating magic on the darker side, don’t rush into anything. Do your research and take the time to meditate and journal about your choices. Check for mundane or more positive means to achieve the result you desire. Protection spells can often be the most effective way to protect yourself and others without risking any negative consequences for yourself. You might want to discuss your options with other practitioners, meditate with deities or pull some tarot cards to help you consider the best way forward. Be sure that you are happy to deal with the negative consequences and potential guilt, such as someone being harmed by your magic, before you begin practising dark magic spells.

Always, always ground and protect yourself before you begin.

If you have tried all possible mundane means available to you to protect yourself and your loved ones and now feel the need to use darker spells, here are some examples. As with all magic spells, the power of your intentions and the energy you put into the spell will determine its effectiveness. Just throwing a few things in a jar will not create the most impactful spell. Take the time to set your intention and empower your spell with your focus and energy for the most powerful results.

3 Dark Magic Spells

The following dark magic spells can protect you from the harmful energy of others and send back negative energy to those who have caused you harm. The first spell is a freezer spell which most witches wouldn’t really consider dark magic. But, as it may infringe on the free will of the intended target it is at least a little on the darker side.

The second spell is a return to sender spell which aims to project any negative intention or actions targeted at you back to the sender. Return-to-sender spells are considered dark magic spells because, though you are only sending back what you have received, the intention is to cause distress (though many would say in a justifiable way).

The last of our 3 dark magic spells is a sour jar spell. This spell definitely has the intention to harm and I would only consider it when I feel it is absolutely necessary and all mundane means and lighter magic has failed.

Spell 1: Freezer Spell

Freezer spells are generally intended to create distance, restriction, or binding, rather than completely altering someone’s will or behaviour. They can be very effective at removing someone’s negative influence in your life. Think of them as the magical equivalent of a restraining order.

It’s important to remember that individuals have free will which means your spell’s influence may be limited in scope. Always ensure you have taken all possible mundane actions in addition to performing a freezer spell, especially if you may be in emotional or physical danger.

What you need

  • Small piece of paper
  • Pen or marker
  • Small container or Ziploc bag

What to do

Prepare for the spell in your usual way such as by grounding, meditating or creating a sacred space.

Begin by focusing on your intention for the spell. Determine what you would like to freeze or bind, such as a person’s harmful influence, negative energies, or unwanted situations. It’s important to note that freezer spells are intended to create distance or restriction, rather than causing harm.

Take the piece of paper and write down the name, situation, or any specific details related to what you want to freeze or bind. Be clear and concise in your wording.

Fold the paper carefully, symbolically sealing the intention within.

Place the folded paper into the small container or Ziploc bag. As you do so, visualize the unwanted energy or influence being contained and restricted, unable to cause harm or impact your life.

Fill the container or bag with water, completely submerging the folded paper. Visualize the water freezing and solidifying, locking away the negative energy or unwanted situation.

Seal the container or bag tightly and say the following affirmation or create your own:

By the power of this freezing spell,

I bind and contain [name or situation], from causing ill,

No longer shall it do me harm

My life shall now be safe and calm.

Place the container or bag in the freezer. As the water freezes, the energy or situation will be energetically bound and immobilized.

You can choose to leave the spell in the freezer for as long as you feel necessary. Some people prefer to keep it there permanently, while others may choose to remove it after a specific period of time. Trust your intuition and act in alignment with your intention.

From time to time, open the freezer, visualize the frozen spell and reaffirm your intention for containment and restriction.

Spell 2: Return to sender spell

A “return to sender” spell’s purpose is to send back any negative energy, harmful intentions, or curses directed towards you or someone else back to their original sender. This spell aims to deflect or reverse the harmful effects and redirect them to the person who initiated the negative energy or curse. The specific methods and ingredients used in a return-to-sender spell can vary depending on individual beliefs, magical traditions and personal preferences.

The intent behind this spell is to protect oneself or others from harm and to send the negative energy back to its source. This can work even if the subject is unintentionally sending out bad energy or if they are intending you harm in a mundane way with their thoughts and actions.

What you need

  • A black candle
  • A small mirror
  • A piece of paper
  • A pen
  • Protective herbs (such as sage, rosemary or bay leaves)
  • A fireproof container (if you wish to burn the paper)

What to do

Prepare for the spell in your usual way such as by grounding, meditating or creating a sacred space.

Light the black candle and place it in front of you.

Take the small mirror and position it in a way that reflects the flame of the candle.

On the paper, write the name or description of the person from whom you wish to return negative energy.

Place the paper face up in front of the candle.

Hold your hands over the paper and visualize a shield of white light surrounding you.

State your intention clearly, saying something like:

As negative energy comes my way,

Return to sender, without delay.

Sprinkle the protective herbs over the paper, symbolizing the warding off of negative energy.

Gently fold the paper and hold it over the candle’s flame, allowing it to catch fire.

Drop the burning paper into the fireproof container and let it burn completely.

Visualize the negative energy being returned to its sender.

Extinguish the candle and thank the universe for its protection.

Dispose of the ashes from the burnt paper in a safe and respectful manner, such as burying them in the earth.

If you are unable to burn the paper you can shred it or dispose of it in the rubbish.

Spell 3: A sour jar spell

A sour jar spell, also known as a vinegar jar spell, is a type of spell used to sour the relationships, luck, or circumstances of a specific individual or situation. It is considered a form of binding or cursing spell that aims to create discord, conflicts and negative outcomes for the target. The sour jar spell typically involves placing a combination of ingredients, such as vinegar, sharp objects, herbs, or personal items related to the target, into a jar. The intention behind the spell is to generate a souring effect in the target’s life, causing disruptions and hardships.

The sour jar spell is rooted in the belief that vinegar has the power to sour, break apart, or spoil things. By combining it with other ingredients, the practitioner seeks to intensify the negative impact on the target. The spell is often performed with strong emotions and focused intention, as the practitioner visualizes the target’s life becoming sour and filled with difficulties.

This spell is for when someone won’t leave you alone and you need to teach them a lesson. Use it only if you have tried all possible mundane ways to stop the harassment and are sure you are happy to go ahead.

What you need

  • Small jar – preferably one that has contained pickles or chutneys
  • Pen
  • Slip of paper
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp wholegrain mustard or mustard seed, cayenne pepper or chilli powder
  • Vinegar

What to do

Prepare for this spell in your usual way. Be particular about cleansing and protection before performing this spell. You may also want to consult your spirit guides or do some divination to be sure this is the right tool for the job.

Write your target’s name on the slip of paper and put it into the jar. You can also add the person’s date of birth if you know it, or use a photograph.

Squirt the lemon juice over your target’s name, and state: “I call for justice to be done.”

Sprinkle the mustard or chilli into the jar, stating: “For the pain you have caused I send you chaos and disharmony

Pour the vinegar into the jar up to halfway and seal the jar very tightly.

Shake the jar thoroughly. As you shake the jar, direct all your feelings of anger, frustration and pain into the jar. Visualise your target having the same amount of stress and disharmony in their lives that they caused in your life.

Store the jar in a dark place. You can take out the jar whenever you want to further power the spell. Shake it again and direct all your negative feelings about the person into the jar

When you want to finish the spell, dispose of all the ingredients safely away from your home.

Closing thoughts

I hope that you rarely need to use these dark magic spells and find that you can create a peaceful, successful and abundant life with more positive forms of magic. However, if you should ever need to use darker magic, I hope these dark magic spells bring you peace and safety.

Blesses Be
